THE OWNERSHIP PRACTICE

See the pattern in 75 seconds.

Most people aren't stuck because they lack potential. They're stuck because they keep avoiding ownership. This short video walks you through the four practices — and shows why the same pattern shows up in your calendar, your relationships, and your company.

  • Where avoidance hides in plain sight

  • The four practices, in one loop

  • Why more information isn't the missing piece

THE PATTERN

You’re probably one of two people right now.

THE HIGH-PERFORMER

You're carrying everyone else's life instead of your own.

Your calendar is full. People rely on you. From the outside, you look like someone who has it figured out. Inside, you're saying, "I'll focus on myself once this season is over." It never is.

You're not lazy. You're not unmotivated. You're avoiding yourself — in subtle, socially acceptable ways.

THE BUILDER

Your team is capable, but everything still comes back to you.

You've built something. You have good people. And you're still the one stepping into everything. You tell yourself it's just growth, but you know this isn't fixing itself.

That's not a people problem. That's an ownership problem.

Why I work with both.

The high-performer lives the pattern. The builder watches it play out across his team. When she says, "I can't seem to follow through," she's describing the exact pattern that — at scale — bottlenecks teams and lands on the founder's desk.

It's the same pattern. Avoidance of ownership. The standard doesn't change. The room does.

Forge Your Freedom

A practical field guide for high-performers who are tired of waiting to feel ready. Inside are the questions, practices, and non-negotiable standards that turn insight into ownership — in your life, your team, and your next chapter.

  • The four practices of Ownership

  • How to spot avoidance before it costs you

  • Daily standards that hold when motivation doesn't

HOW I GOT HERE

I built a career that looked like success. I was still avoiding myself.

I went from store manager to Vice President of Retail in three years, helping build one of Florida's emerging cannabis retail organizations from the ground up. The reason I was in cannabis at all wasn't a career move — it was personal. My husband came home from the Army with chronic pain and PTSD, and I watched cannabis give him his quality of life back.

From the outside, I had it figured out. What I didn't talk about was how often I was saying yes when I meant no, overthinking the conversation I should have been having, and carrying everyone else's outcomes while quietly putting my own to the side.

I had to do my own ownership work. Not from a book. From sitting with the questions I'd been avoiding and holding standards no one else was going to hold for me.

That's what I teach now. Same principle. Different rooms. But this room — this is the one I built it for.

"I partnered closely with Connie for over three years as her HR business partner. She is a leader who balances empathy and operational excellence — making tough decisions while remaining relatable and inspiring. I witnessed her growth in accountability and ownership, making her not just a respected operator but a mentor who commanded trust and attention from hundreds. When Connie spoke, the team listened — and followed. She is truly one of the most talented leaders I've worked alongside in my career."

— Alicia Catato, Vice President of HR

RECEIPTS

What people say about working with Connie.

“Connie is the coach who actually hears you — and then helps you name what's been holding you back. Her approach is challenging in the best way: she pushes you past where you've been comfortable, and she does it with both honesty and warmth. She showed me how to take radical ownership of my own life, and she'll do the same for you.”

— JD Dunwoodie, Marketing Leader

“Connie is an effective operator and builder of teams. She built Sunnyside's Florida retail from the ground up into a market leader, then successfully translated those learnings across states—no small feat in a complex, fast-moving environment. What sets her apart is how she does it: with a genuine, people-first approach that develops strong teams and prepares leaders for what’s next. Connie doesn’t just drive results—she builds organizations that can sustain and scale them. Any business navigating transformation would benefit from her leadership.”

WHAT I BELIEVE

The standard I hold in every room.

The both/and is the whole thing.

Direct and warm. Edgy and nurturing. Strong and soft. I don't sand off either side to be more palatable.

Kindness without honesty is a cage.

I won't nod along while you build a case for staying small. I will love you enough to tell you the truth.

You are your problem. You are your solution.

Not because everything is your fault. Because no one else is going to live your life or lead your team.

Insight without action is expensive entertainment.

You don't need more clarity. You need to do the thing the clarity already pointed to.

Avoidance is the disease.

Excuses, avoidance, and broken commitments to yourself aren't personality traits. They're the cost of pretending the problem is somewhere it isn't.

The standard you walk past is the standard you set.

Ownership becomes a culture only when it becomes a daily practice — in your company, your home, and your own head.

ONE FRAMEWORK. TWO ROOMS

Ownership is the practice of taking 100% responsibility for your impact, your follow-through, and your results — even when it isn't your fault, even when other people are involved. It doesn't deny what happened to you. It refuses to let what happened to you keep running the room.

In your life

Ownership ends the cycle of overthinking, avoiding, and breaking quiet commitments to yourself.

In your organization

Ownership eliminates avoidance, strengthens accountability, and turns capable teams into teams that execute.

TWO ROOMS. SAME STANDARD.

FOR THE HIGH-PERFORMER

Stop avoiding your own life.

1:1 coaching for women who are done reading, done circling, and ready to hold the standard for themselves.

FOR THE BUILDER

Build an ownership culture.

Workshops, consulting, and keynotes for leaders who are tired of training programs that don't move anything.

You are your problem.

You are also your solution.

One Promise across every door I keep open.

“Honesty about where you're avoiding. A practice that turns it into action. And someone who will tell you the truth and still love you the whole way through it.”

You can keep reading about ownership. You can keep posting about it, talking about it, almost-doing it.

Or you can decide this is the year you stopped avoiding — your team, your standards, yourself.

I'm not for everyone. I'm for the high-performer who's tired of carrying a life that doesn't fit her anymore. I'm for the builder who's tired of carrying a team that won't step up. I'm for the people ready to be met with both honesty and love — and asked to rise to it anyway.

If that's you, I'd like to meet you.
